Conference Update!

The 12th ISRII conference will be held in the University of Limerick, Ireland, June 2-5, 2024. Keynotes have now been confirmed and we are pleased to announce that highly esteemed researchers in digital mental health interventions such as Prof. Helen Christensen (UNSW Sydney), Prof. Lee Ritterband (University of Virginia), Prof. Gerhard Andersson (Linkoping University Sweden), Prof. Heleen Riper (VU University Amsterdam) and Prof. David Mohr (Northwestern University, Chicago) will be delivering keynotes during the conference.

We are excited to offer four great pre-conference workshops, all designed to equip researchers with hands-on experience to advance their work. It's really hard to choose just one to attend.

We’ll have:

  • A workshop on optimizing digital interventions using the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST), run by Prof. Linda Collins (New York University) and Dr. Inbal Nahum-Shani (University of Michigan).
  • A hands-on workshop on using CIAS, an open-source non-commercial platform, to design, deliver, and research interactive digital interventions without the need for coding or hosting, run by Prof. Steven Ondersma (Michigan State University) and colleagues from Europe.

We look forward to 4 days of high-quality engagement on all the latest in Internet Interventions from around the world. And of course this will be a great opportunity to sample the Irish hospitality and culture on the beautiful west coast of Ireland!

Don’t forget to submit your abstract if you haven’t already! The submission portal will remain open until Feb 2, for 3,000 character abstracts proposing individual paper presentations, posters, demonstrations, symposia, panels or short sounding board entries.

Spotlight on our new President-Elect

Lattie Emily PhD

The ISRII Board of Directors are excited to announce Dr. Emily Lattie has been elected as our new President-Elect. We spoke to Emily about her work and plans for the ISRII.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how/why you came to join ISRII? I’m a clinical psychologist by training and am currently the Director of Clinical Product for Lyra Health. I’m thrilled to be the new president-elect of ISRII. I’ve been working at Lyra since April of 2023, and before that time, I was a faculty member at Northwestern University in the Department of Medical Social Sciences and in the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies. My research has long focused on the design, evaluation, and implementation of technology-enabled mental health services, and ISRII has been a fantastic professional home for this kind of work. I learned about ISRII from David Mohr - I was a research assistant in his lab when he attended the 2009 meeting in Amsterdam. I remember being excited to hear about the research community back then, and I was finally able to attend my first ISRII meeting in Seattle in 2016 when I was a postdoc in David’s group. The rest is history!

How would you describe your area of research to someone at a dinner party outside your field? “I look at different ways that we can use technology to make mental health care services more accessible, efficient, and effective.” This usually gets folks starting to talk about problems with healthcare systems in general, and then attention moves away from me, and my goal is accomplished!

What do you love about your job? So many things! And honestly, the things that I love about my current job are pretty similar to the things I loved about my academic job. I love knowing that the projects I work on can directly (and hopefully positively) impact the mental care offerings available to folks across the United States (and increasingly, around the world). I love working on multidisciplinary teams and figuring out how to get aligned on priorities so that we can maximize everyone’s contributions to projects. And, I love the bits of education, training, and mentoring that I still get to do. I feel like I’m constantly learning new things.

What are you looking forward to achieving as President of ISRII? Developing more pathways for our awesome members to connect with one another. The ISRII conferences I’ve attended have been my very favorite conferences, and I’ve been continuously impressed by the ISRII community of scholars. As president-elect, I’m eager to help develop and support methods for engaging ISRII members throughout the year and to help grow the organization

Digital Health Week DIY Workshop

Did you miss our webinar DIY- Using Available Survey Platforms to Build & Test Digital Interventions” last year?

ISRII is excited to announce that the society will be re-running this webinar as a part of Digital Health Week 2024, a hybrid conference run by the University of Sydney’s Digital Health Informatics Network.

When: Thursday, February 15, 2024, 3 PM (AEDT)

Where: Online. Join for this event by registering for the Digital Health Week 2024 conference (it’s FREE) at https://dhin.net.au/digital-health-week-2024/. You will be sent zoom-links for this webinar and the other Digital Health Week sessions a week before the event.

What: In this webinar, ISRII researchers will showcase research projects in which they built and test an entire intervention using commonly accessible survey platforms (like Qualtrics, Lime-Survey, Survey-monkey, and Red-Cap). Or in short, learn how to do it yourself!
