Meet the ISRII Board of Directors

This issue we spoke to new ISRII Board of Directors member Anna-Carlotta Zarski.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how/why you came to join ISRII?

I’m a psychologist and licensed therapist, currently working as an Assistant Professor for eHealth in clinical psychology at Philipps University of Marburg in Germany. My initial experience with the ISRII conference dates back to 2014 in Valencia, during my PhD studies. I thoroughly enjoyed the warm and open atmosphere, making it easy to connect with people. At that time, eHealth was still a relatively uncommon research topic, making it particularly rewarding to engage with fellow PhD students and mentors, exchanging ideas and gaining inspiration for my own research.

Can you tell us about your main area of research and the projects/trials you have been involved with?

One of my initial projects and primary research focuses on internet-based treatment for female sexual dysfunction, an underserved and highly stigmatized area in healthcare. I've developed and assessed an internet-based program targeting Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration disorder, successfully integrated into routine care in Germany and covered by health insurance. My current interest lies in identifying the optimal treatment components for individuals and understanding the support needed for maximum benefit.

Additionally, I am engaged in the prevention of anxiety and depressive disorders. As part of the ICare EU consortium, we explored transdiagnostic indicated prevention approaches for anxiety and depressive disorders. My ongoing project centres on a personalized, dyadic-based, AI-driven, just-in-time adaptive intervention mechanism for anxiety and depressive disorders prevention via an app. The aim is to investigate how individuals can receive more personalized support for behavior change in their daily lives. Furthermore, I delve into blended therapy approaches and their practical implementation in routine care. I also explore internet-based interventions for various target populations and disorders, including behavioral addictions and youth experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder.

What are you looking forward to achieving as a board member of ISRII?

I’m happy to have the opportunity to actively participate in ISRII. I am particularly keen on getting involved in activities for early to mid-career researchers, having personally benefited from the enriching exchange and mentoring spirit within ISRII in the past. Therefore, I aim to organize events that are specifically tailored to the needs of early to mid-career researchers, fostering a community and network around individuals in this career stage.
